Gambio is bringing power to the merchants with GAMB marketplace

Gambio, with its growing merchant base, is in a unique position to lead the industry towards a more sustainable model than Amazon, through open-source software powered by the blockchain technology.

With a power-house like Amazon, it is sometimes difficult to envision that a company that is considered to be one of the most dominating enterprises in the world could have serious issues at its core. In fact, the e-commerce atmosphere as a whole is plagued by the centralization of economic power by the leading tech companies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, and of course, Amazon. Furthermore, in a time when small businesses have no choice but to turn to online in order to compete with retail giants, many owners must turn to the pre-existing marketplaces simply because they don’t have the infrastructure to build and maintain a marketplace themselves.

With that said, since up to 55% of all product searches are currently through Amazon, four million sellers are currently relying on a single centralized platform. However, sellers face serious issues with working with a single centralized platform, as retailers cannot create their own conditions and rules, and so they cannot completely control their business.

That is why GAMB, which stands for the Global Alliance of Merchants on the Blockchain, is being launched in order to give the power back to the merchants themselves. Governed by smart contacts, the only decision making unit of the marketplace is the owners themselves. It is the token holders that propose rules and regulations, which upon approval can be programmed into smart contracts. This guarantees transparency, trust, and sustainability. So as a “unionizing” force, the more merchants using and supporting GAMB, the more independent they become. The merchants themselves propose the marketplace rules, thus liberating themselves from a single centralized platform that could be a controlling force.

decentralized marketplace, gambio

GAMB is being launched by Gambio, a market leader of e-commerce software in Germany, that has a long-lasting history of generating profitable business in the industry. As an all-in-one platform providing the e-commerce shop solution, Gambio has an inside take on what is happening with the centralization of the e-commerce world. Gambio, with its growing merchant base, is in a unique position to lead the industry towards a more sustainable model than Amazon, through open-source software powered by the blockchain technology.

However, taking on one of the four leading companies in the world is a daunting task, for anyone, even Donald Trump. And yet, if we take a step back and look at the blockchain world as a whole, a new theme has arisen that blockchain by nature is the best way to, for lack of better terminology, “give power back to the people”. Mixing blockchain and security can provide users with a more efficient way to protect and secure their information, while blockchain and finance has the potential to provide others with a secure place to get a loan. While these are two minor examples, they both show the potential that blockchain has in taking down the “middle men”, a problem that has arisen greatly since the growth and development of business giants. Only time will tell if GAMB can really help and decentralize the e-commerce world, but giving power back to merchants and small businesses is something that we should all support.
